Update #3

Class is going great! I wasn't sure I would like an online class, but I have a great professor and have enjoyed the assignments.  Since the last post we have been busy and I have all the assignments completed except for the final portfolio (which is in progress).

The first project I completed since my last post was a Power Point presentation.  I didn't realize that Power Point presentations could be so interactive.  I enjoyed creating the slides and determining my subject matter.  This was one of my favorite projects.  Very useful for the classroom.

Next was a project comparing various presentation options.  We had to compare and contrast the following presentation mediums:
  • Power Point
  • SlideShare
  • VoiceThread
  • Prezi
This was a very productive module as we had to look at each medium and what liked and disliked about each of them.  I like Prezi and Power Point the best, but I also like the other two as well.  Below is the link to my project comparing and contrasting these options.  Again, very useful for the classroom.

Next was a web movie posted on Youtube.  I like that you can use a free movie program from your computer to make any movie for your classroom.  Again, I found it more difficult to determine the subject matter than to make the movie.  Click below to view my movie.

Finally, we had to create a WebQuest to use in the classroom.  I know I say this a lot, but this is very useful for our classroom as well.  I did find this project more time consuming than others and tedious, but useful for the classroom.  As with most of the projects I think that subject matter is difficult, but if I were a teacher in a real classroom I would know what I needed to teach so I doubt it would be so challenging.

I really enjoyed this class.

  1. I am currently working on the movie project. Did you write a synopsis to accompany it or did you just film and create the movie? Thank you for posting examples of your work. Sometimes it is nice to compare your work with someone else's work. I just like to make sure I'm not doing something completely wrong and crazy!

  2. I also had difficulty determining what sort of subject matter to include in my movie, but I loved all of the last projects we did in the class so far because I have learned so much!

  3. I loved making the movie! I am excited to be able to use that in my own classroom one day, it was much more user-friendly than I expected. I too feel we have learned more about several great resources to make lessons more relevant, interactive, and engaging.
