Update #3

Class is going great! I wasn't sure I would like an online class, but I have a great professor and have enjoyed the assignments.  Since the last post we have been busy and I have all the assignments completed except for the final portfolio (which is in progress).

The first project I completed since my last post was a Power Point presentation.  I didn't realize that Power Point presentations could be so interactive.  I enjoyed creating the slides and determining my subject matter.  This was one of my favorite projects.  Very useful for the classroom.

Next was a project comparing various presentation options.  We had to compare and contrast the following presentation mediums:
  • Power Point
  • SlideShare
  • VoiceThread
  • Prezi
This was a very productive module as we had to look at each medium and what liked and disliked about each of them.  I like Prezi and Power Point the best, but I also like the other two as well.  Below is the link to my project comparing and contrasting these options.  Again, very useful for the classroom.

Next was a web movie posted on Youtube.  I like that you can use a free movie program from your computer to make any movie for your classroom.  Again, I found it more difficult to determine the subject matter than to make the movie.  Click below to view my movie.

Finally, we had to create a WebQuest to use in the classroom.  I know I say this a lot, but this is very useful for our classroom as well.  I did find this project more time consuming than others and tedious, but useful for the classroom.  As with most of the projects I think that subject matter is difficult, but if I were a teacher in a real classroom I would know what I needed to teach so I doubt it would be so challenging.

I really enjoyed this class.

Update #2

Good evening everyone!
It's time to update again and I am looking forward to it this time.  After getting my feet wet these last couple weeks with online projects I am slowly gaining confidence in the blogging and online world.

Our first assignment since we last talked was an interactive poster using GLOGSTER.  I REALLY ENJOYED THIS ASSIGNMENT!!! It was easy to use the website which had tons of great ideas and was very easy to use.  The hardest part was deciding what to make my poster about.  This is also a great program for students to use to make final projects, etc. I hope I have correctly added the link to my glogster poster.  Again, this has been my favorite assignment so far.

After that we had to create a  graphic organizer using Kidspiration.  This was also a fun project, however I was not as impressed with the software for this application.  I found it difficult to use, but useful for the classroom.

Finally we had to use Google Docs to create a grade book with graphs as well as an online form that students can fill out.  I liked this assignment as well.  It was great to have all the information in one spot and link to a spreashseet to compile all the data.  I can also see how this would be useful in the classroom.

So far I am enjoying this class and the projects.

I am new to the blogging world.  I am excited about creating this blog for one of my classes at Ashland University.  For the course I am currently taking we need to use different technologies related to the teaching profession and create projects for the online course.
Our first project involved researching various emergent technologies and then creating a WiKi page describing two of these technologies.  I liked reading my classmates WiKi pages and I learned a great deal about various technologies and how to use them in my classroom.
